"My artwork takes a critical view of social, political and cultural issues. In my work, I deconstruct the dreams, fairy tales and symbols of popular culture that we are part of.My work reproduces familiar visual signs, arranging them into conceptually new layered pieces.Shapes and sketched signs are combined into a discourse that feature mundane domestic objects painted juxtaposed with whimsical objects, and are sometimes embellished with text. The color bands establish a dream-like surreal quality, suggesting notions of calmness and safety, and formally unify the disparate. The titles provide clues to content and interpretation."

Francesco Ermini was born in Livorno in 1980. After classical studies, he enrolls to Law School in Pisa. During his years at university he starts to attend to Luca Bellandi's Art School where he has the chance to learn the basis of drawing and artistic painting in order to go along with his until-then-unexpressed passion.

This apprenticeship lasts until 2005 when Francesco starts his personal walkabout which will take him to live in different places all over the world for study and work: in 2005 he moves to Oviedo, Spain, in 2007 then Francesco returns shortly back to Italy where finally obtains his Master Degree in Law. In 2008 he is in the USA living and working at first in NYC and then in Houston, TX for a longer while and in 2011, after one year spent in Edinburgh, UK, where Francesco is awarded of the LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law and gains access to the Bar of Lawyers, he eventually heads back to his hometown.

Nonetheless, Francesco still keeps up with his craving while living abroad, in fact he attends to drawing and painting classes held by prestigious institutions such as the Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias in Oviedo, the CAMH (Contemporary Arts Museum Houston) and the Menil Collection in Houston, and the College of Arts – University of Edinburgh, UK.
